Our Mission
We at the Oasis Project seek to create safer spaces for emotional and spiritual care at conventions and conferences. We educate, advocate, and facilitate better holistic care for all.
What We Do
The Oasis Project is about creating peaceful safer spaces at conventions where people can recharge in a soothing environment before re-engaging the convention. We provide quiet activities, simple snacks, and self-care supplies.
Our staff is an interfaith-oriented team of clergy from diverse faith paths, willing to provide support to anyone, regardless of faith tradition or lack thereof.
We have worked with BayCon and ConVolution in the San Francisco Bay Area, and are looking to engage with conventions in other areas within our reach, as well as potentially training new Oasis teams in other areas where there is interest.
What Is An Oasis Room?
An Oasis Room is a hospitality space, where people can go to find a quiet, welcoming space when they need some self-care before re-engaging the convention. If they need emotional or spiritual support as well, an interfaith team is present to help.

So we weren't *technically* at ChiCon8/WorldCon80. However, our founder and another staffer ran the Safer Spaces at WorldCon80, which were very Oasis-like. It was a chance to use what we learned in the Oasis at previous conventions in a whole new way!

This was our first non-fandom convention. we were pleased to host an Oasis Room at the first in person iteration of Between the Veils. Some new lessons learned, and still making sure we're handling CoVID safely.

Excited to return to BayCon for the first physical gathering of the convention since CoVID began. Though it was a smaller con this year, we still had a good impact, seeing over fifty individuals over the course of the convention.

Our fourth year as a presence at BayCon, and the conventions 37th year. Once again at the "Escher" Marriott. We were able to provide space for over a hundred individuals, and many people used the space several times.
